We are joined by Chris Larson and Shekendra Morgan of the Vermillion, SD Pride organization to discuss the film that they chose this week, 1999’s satirical comedy But I’m a Cheerleader. But I’m a Cheerleader is a 1999 teen comedy from writer/director Jamie Babbit about a perky high school cheerleader (Natasha Lyonne) who is sent to a gay conversion camp by her straight-laced parents and friends. There she meets social outcast Graham (Clea DuVall) as the teens navigate discovering their true selves and the hypocrisy of their camp leaders. The film also stars RuPaul, Michelle Williams, Cathy Moriarty, and Dante Basco.
The Box Office
Toping this weekend’s holiday box office is the long anticipated A Quiet Place II with an impressive $58.5 million opening. Opening this weekend at number two is Disney’s Cruella with $26.5 million. Spiral: From the Book of Saw drops to number three with $2.9 million. At number four is Wrath of Man with $2.7 million. Rounding out our top five is Raya and the Last Dragon with $2.57 million.

Aaron Taylor Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) has been cast as Spider-Man foe Kraven the Hunter in a live action solo film. The follows the series of Tom Hardy Venom movies, and the upcoming Jared Leto lead Morbius film as a rumored interconnected series of Spider-Man villain movies. Just week’s after the announcement of a new Evil Dead film, we now have a premise and a home for the upcoming picture. The film will be an HBO Max Original, taking place in a high rise apartment as the book of the dead unleashes havoc on the residents.
