Da 5 Bloods – Spike Lee Series

This week on the Back Lot 605 Podcast we draw an end tour Spike Lee series by covering the latest film in the director’s filmography, Da 5 Bloods. The Box Office

Continuing it’s surprising run at box office, The Croods: A New Age takes the number on spot with $1.7 million. The Little Things moves to number two with $1.21 million. At number three is Judas and the Black Messiah with just under a million. Wonder Woman 1984 takes in just over $800,000. The Marksman rounds out the top five.

The News

In the first of two trailers released this week, Disney has dropped the first look at the Emma Stone lead Cruella. The big bad of 101 Dalmatians will get her own origin story, much like Maleficent.

Baby Driver director Edgar Wright has announced another movie he is set direct in a new adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man. Wright states the film will follow the source material more closely than that of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film from 1987.

Joker‘s Joaquin Phoenix has been tapped to star in Ari Aster’s follow up to Midsommar, Disappointment Blvd. In further casting news, Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya will team up in the next feature film from Get Out‘s Jordan Peele. The last time Kaluuya and Peele teamed garnered both an Academy Award nomination, with Peele winning Best Original Screenplay.

Continuing their dual HBO Max/theatrical release on April 16 is Warner Bros. new adaption of Mortal Kombat. Based on the popular fighting game of the same name, the new trailer gives fan their first look at the bloody carnage.
