Do The Right Thing – Spike Lee Series

Do the right thing. Four words that speak volumes. During the month of February, we celebrate Black History Month, and for us, that means sharing the work of one of the greatest directors of our generation, Spike Lee. We begin Spike Lee month by discussing his culturally significant cinematic masterpiece, Do The Right Thing. Joining us on this exciting episode is Blake Ginithan and Andre Handy to discuss the film’s themes, cultural importance, and what it means in today’s society.

The Box Office

A new king of the box office has arrived by way of the dual theatrical and HBO Max release of The Little Things. The Denzel Washington, Jared Leto, and Rami Malek lead film grossed over $4.8 million in it’s opening weekend. At number two is The Croods: A New Age with $1.84 million. Wonder Woman 1984 continues it’s run with $1.3 million. At number four is Liam Neeson’s The Marksman with $1.25 million. Lastly, Monster Hunter takes in just over $700,000.

The News

In a rather slow week for movie news, we finally have a release date for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The long awaited “Snyder Cut” will hit HBO Max on March 18th, clocking in at around 4 hours long. In other movie news, Kevin Hart is joining Eli Roth’s Borderlands adaptation. The Ride Along star will team with the Hostel director for this video game film.
