Draft Day – Ivan Reitman Series

In our final episode in our November Ivan Reitman Series we take a look at a more recent film of the director’s filmography with 2014’s Draft Day! Draft Day stars Kevin Costner as a Cleveland Browns General Manager who juggles the day to day life of a man dealing with grief, news of his impending fatherhood, all taking place on the NFL’s biggest day of the year. We are joined by contributing writer Andy Erickson to discuss the film, accuracies to the real life NFL, and more! Sonny Weaver Jr. (Costner) is the G.M. of the Cleveland Browns, a lower tier NFL football team, who on NFL Draft Day must decide which players to choose from college to enter the NFL and play for his team. On this day, Weaver Jr. also receives news that his secret girlfriend Ali (Jennifer Garner) is expecting a child. Furthermore, Weaver Jr. is also dealing with the loss of his father, a former head coach of the Cleveland Browns. A day that has changed many lives both old and young. This is Draft Day.
