Equilibrium Spotlight

Welcome to the year 2002. Boy bands are topping the musical charts, America is at war, and leather trench coats are in style. What a time! That year saw the release of a film that flew under the radar for many years. That film…Equilibrium. Directed by Kurt Wimmer and starring Christian Bale, the film has since developed a cult following. Today we revisit this film and give spotlight to Equilibrium.

Set in the distant future, the world was ravaged by the events of World War 3. This has lead to the decision to not allow for mankind to show emotion. To enforce this, each person must consume a daily serum that suppresses emotions. If they do not abide, the world’s leading assassin team called the Clerics is sent to stop them. John Preston (Bale), the most experienced of the Clerics, soon finds himself troubled by where is loyalties truly lay.


The News

Annabelle Comes Home director Gary Dauberman is set to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot. A film adaptation was originally made into a TV movie in 1979 by director Tobe Hooper. Dauberman’s previous writing credits also include It, It: Chapter 2, and The Nun.

David Bruckner (The Ritual, V/H/S) has been hired to take on a remake of Hellraiser for Spyglass Media. The film will be a remake of the 1987 film and an adaptation of the Clive Barker novel of the same name. Currently there is no set release date.
