Fight Club – David Fincher Series

We are joined by I Really Get Into It director Brian Bieber on this episode breaking down this cult classic film. With over 20 years having passed since the release of the film it has taken on a new life, with many calling it one of the most misunderstood films of all time. What are you thoughts on Fight Club? Fight Club stars Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, and Jared Leto. The film follows an insomniac office worker (Norton) who befriends the charismatic Tyler Durden. The two, complete with their self-destructive tendencies, start an underground fight club. As the fight club builds the two begin to drift apart, with Durden sparking a fling with an equally destructive woman (Carter). But the two toxic personalities begin to realize they may have more in common than meets the eye.

The Box Office

The animated film The Croods: A New Age tops the box office for a second weekend with $4.4 million. Opening at number two is the Spanish language film Half Brothers, opening at $720,000. Freaky continues it’s box office run at number three with $460,000. All My Life opens at the number four slot with $350,000. Lastly, The War With Grandpa sticks around for at least one more week with a little over $300,000.

The News

Legendary Pictures has tapped Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) to star in a reboot of the Toxic Avenger. Based on the cult Troma B-movie, the Toxic Avenger follows a janitor who falls in a vat of toxic waste and becomes the most disgusting superhero the world has ever known. A director has yet to be attached to the project at this time.

The Universal Monster craze continues! The studio has announced that The Conjuring director James Wan will produce a new Van Helsing film. Overlord director Julius Avery has been tapped to direct the film about Dracula’s greatest threat.

In perhaps the biggest movie news story of the year, HBO Max and Warner Bros. have announced that the entire WB movie slate for 2021 will release on HBO Max the same day as it’s theatrical run. This news comes as a shock to many, especially with the titles that the studio has announced that will head straight to streaming. Films like The Suicide Squad, Dune, Kong vs Godzilla, and The Matrix 4 will all debut on the streaming service.
