South Dakota and punk rock. Two things you normally would not associate with one another. What many residents of the state do not know, or may not remember, is both East and West River had large underground punk rock communities. During the late 1980’s and into the 90’s these band performed locally, and developed a cult status amongst their punk counterparts. I Really Get Into It: The Underage Architects of Sioux Falls Punk is an upcoming documentary film that is a nostalgic trip to these time. We are joined by the film’s director and a former member of this scene Brian Bieber. Bieber explains the underground nature of punk rock, the DIY attitude, and why doing this documentary was important to him.
The film is available now for pre-order here. Follow them on Facebook for more behind the scenes content.
