Meatballs Spotlight

Welcome to Episode 81 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast! We are in week four of our Summer Camp mini-series and have made our way to what may be considered the granddaddy of them all, Meatballs. To do so, we are joined by a fellow South Dakota podcast movie duo, The Dakota Boys Talk Movies! Hosts Stephen and Dakotah join us to discuss the Bill Murray classic Meatballs, as well as the latest movie news and our recent watches!

The News

Let’s get to the biggest news first. The one that has swept the internet by storm for years now. Halle Berry and Josh Gad are teaming up for a Roland Emmerich disaster film. Moonfall, stars the two as astronauts who embark on a mission to the moon before it crashes into earth.

Oh, that wasn’t the big news of the week? How about this. The Tom Hanks WWII drama Greyhound will skip it’s scheduled theatrical run, and instead find it’s way to Apple TV Plus. The film will be released on June 12th, exclusively to the Apple streaming platform.

David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) has found his next project. The director will take on the superhero genre, with an original script about “heroes and villains”. No word yet on the cast or expected release date.

Our last piece of smaller movie news, is that the much clamored for “Snyder Cut” of Justice League will finally see the light of day. HBO MAX has announced that they will pick up the distribution for director Zack Snyder’s cut of the film. It is said that the film will be a four hour long epic, or be split into a multiple episode format. The extended version will be available on HBO MAX in 2021.
