This week, we are joined this week by fellow 605 natives Jon and Tom from A Comic Book Look, to discuss Monty Python’s Life of Brian. We also cover the latest movie news of the week, the box office results, and what’s new to cinemas next week.

The Box Office

The box office just can’t keep an old man down. Liam Neeson’s The Marksman tops the box office with $3.23 million. Moving up to number two is The Croods: A New Age with $2.03 million. Wonder Woman 1984 drops to number three with $1.99 million. Tom Hank’s News of the World takes the number four spot with $1.05 million. Rounding out the box office is Monster Hunter with $920,000.

The News

In a jam packed week for movie news we kick it off with the release of the first official look at the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie. The film will debut day and date on HBO Max and theaters nationwide on April 16th. In further streaming news, Netflix released a trailer for their upcoming 2021 movie slate. Furthermore, the streaming service has announced a 4 picture deal with Ride Along star Kevin Hart.

In Marvel Cinematic Universe news, Chris Evans will in fact be returning as Captain America in an undisclosed project. Sticking with the MCU news, producer Kevin Feige confirms Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool will be in the MCU and be Rated R.

In casting news, Brendan Fraser will play the lead in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming feature The Whale. This marks Aronofsky’s first film since his controversial film mother! Aaron Sorkin’s next project will see him team with Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem in a biopic about the lives of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Being the Ricardos will be written and direct by Sorking and follow the I Love Lucy couple outside the TV screen.
