Musicians That NEED a Biopic

On this episode of the Back Lot 605 Podcast, hosts Casey and Brian break down their picks for musicians that are in need of a biopic. In honor of the release of Rocketman this upcoming week, what would be some of your picks for future biopics? The Schmuck Club also takes a look at the biggest news stories of the week, including John Wick 4. They also take note of this week’s box office numbers!

The Box Office

Disney reigns supreme at the box office once again with Aladdin coming it at number one. The live action remake pulled in over $86 million in it’s first weekend out. Last week’s number one film, John Wick 3, racks up $24 million in week two. The James Gunn produced Brightburn rounds off the top five with $7.5 million. Lastly, Booksmart brings in $6.5 million in it’s first weekend out.

The News

After the box office and critical success of John Wick 3, Lionsgate announces that Chapter 4 will release May 21, 2021. From one unstoppable killing machine to another, Terminator: Dark Fate drops it’s first trailer. Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up together for the first time since T2: Judgement Day. Tim Miller (Deadpool) steps into the directing chair for the film which is a follow up to the events of T2.

Schwarzenneger begins filming his next film later this summer alongside Michael Fassbender, Kung Fury 2. Based on the cult classic short film from David Sandberg, Kung Fury 2 brings back all the 80’s B-Movie nostalgia from the original. Taika Waititi will directed a live action version of the acclaimed anime Akira. Akira will go head to head with John Wick 4 on May 21, 2021.

Musicians in Need of a Biopic

With the release of the Elton John biopic Rocketman on May 31st, we take a look at other musicians in need of the same treatment. With Brian growing up in the age of grunge rock, how many Seattle bands will he have on his list? Do any of Casey’s favorite bands make the list? Listen to find out!
