Our Favorite Remakes

Welcome to the 25th episode of the Back Lot 605 podcast! Each week we break down the box office and the latest movie news from the last week. Casey and Brian are joined by resident member of the Schmuck Club, Blake Ginithan from Midwest Movie Talk. The trio discuss their favorite remakes of all time!

The Box Office

The Curse of La Llorona tops the box office for the week with an impressive $26.5 million opening. In it’s third week out Shazam! takes the number spot with over $17 million, taking it’s total domestic gross to $121 million. Easter weekend’s top three is rounded out by the faith based drama Breakthough, which pulled in $11 million.

The News

John Cena has entered talks to join the James Gunn directed The Suicide Squad. Cena would join the likes of Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Viola Davis in the next entry in the DC Extended Universe. What are your thoughts on which character Cena could play?

The latest trailer for Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw has dropped. The trailer showcases the family dynamic for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. Hobbs and Shaw hits the big screens August 2nd.

Train to Busan actor Ma Dong-seok joins the cast of The Eternals. Dong-seok joins this The Marvel Cinematic Universe film that includes Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani in undisclosed roles.

The remake of Child’s Play receives it’s first full trailer. The trailer reveals the first line of dialogue from the new Chucky, Mark Hamill. The Aubrey Plaza lead film hit’s theaters June 21.
