Welcome to Episode 45 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast! On this episode of the “Premier South Dakota Movie Podcast” joining us is professional wrestling commentator Charlie Eccles (@WrestlingVoice1). In honor of Rambo: Last Blood we take a deep dive into our favorite Sylvester Stallone movies! From Rocky to Rambo we discuss the essential Stallone filmography.

The Box Office

It: Chapter 2 tops the box office for the second weekend in a row. The R rated sequel took in over $40 million in week two. The Jennifer Lopez lead Hustlers takes in the number two spot with $33 million. New release The Goldfinch opens with a disappointing $2.6 million against a $45 million budget.

The News

Spy and Ghostbusters director Paul Feig is set to direct Dark Army for Universal Pictures. The film will include classic Universal Monsters, and new characters created by Feig.

Warner Bros. and Bad Robot close a mega multi-media deal. The JJ Abrams-produced company Bad Robot will set up shop at WB and produce television shows and theatrically released films for all Warner-owned properties. No projects have yet been announced following the merger.

Two new horror trailers have been released this week. The first of which is Countdown. The film follows a mobile phone app that counts down to the day you die. Countdown hits theaters October 25, 2019.

The second trailer is for the sequel to the 2015 Blumhouse film, The Gallows. The Gallows Act II follows the events of the first film as young actress enrolls in a prestigious acting school. Act II hits select theaters October 25, 2019.

To hype the release of Rambo: Last Blood, we discuss our all-time favorite Sly movies. We talk the forgotten “brilliance” of Over the Top and Cliffhanger. The epic adventure that is the life of Rocky Balboa. And the gorgeous action that is brought upon by John Rambo. What are some of your favorite Stallone movies?
