Space Jam – Animation/Live Action Hybrid Series

Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now. We got a real jam goin down, welcome to the Space Jam. In honor of the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy we are looking at some of the most iconic live action/animated hybrid movies of all time. We start this series with the 1996 film starring Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny, Space Jam! We are joined by Sam Lenz from Slash Lot to discuss perhaps one of the craziest movies to ever exist.

In this documentary about the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, we Jordan now retired from the game to pursue a career in professional baseball. After an intergalactic threat pits Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes against the villainous Monstars, Bugs recruits Jordan to return to the court to not only save the Tunes, but rediscover his love for the game of basketball. Space Jam also stars Bill Murray as himself.

The Box Office

The 4th of July weekend box office is all about family. Fast 9: The Fast Saga tops the box office once again with a $30.12 million 4 day weekend. Opening at number two is The Boss Baby: Family Business at $20.03 million. The Forever Purge takes the number three spot with $15.66 million. Coming in at number four is A Quiet Place Part II with $5.22 million. Rounding out the weekend top five is The Hitman’s Bodyguard’s Wife at $3.9 million.

The News

Sad news for the film industry this week as legendary director and producer Richard Donner has passed away at the age of 91. Some of the most notable work’s of Donner include Superman: The Movie, The Goonies, The Omen, and Lethal Weapon.
