Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Spoiler Review

Welcome to Episode 59 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast. This weekend saw the release of a little indie film by the title of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Jokes aside this episode is a very serious matter. We will be the first, and only, people to ever talk Star Wars on the internet. Here we will give our spoiler-filled thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker and the new trilogy. Did you have a chance to see the film this weekend? What are your thoughts on the 9th film in the Skywalker Saga?

The Box Office

The Rise of Skywalker tops the weekend box office with $175 million. Jumanji: The Next Level continues strong with $26 million at the number two spot. At number three this weekend is Frozen II with $12.3 million. Cats opens at number four with $6.5 million. Finally, Knives Out rounds out the top five with $6.1 million.

The News

This week was relatively slow for film news. We did get a first look at the follow up to A Quiet Place with a 30-second teaser. A Quiet Place II opens March 2020.

We also get our first full trailer for Top Gun: Maverick. The film opens June 26, 2020.

Finally, a fourth Jackass film has been announced for a 2021 release.

Casey graduated from The University of Sioux Falls in 2017. At USF Casey produced weekly movie reviews and hosted a radio show. He graduated with a degree in Media Studies. Skills he learned in college have allowed him to help create Back Lot 605. He has produced and directed 4 short films. His favorite films include Halloween, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Die Hard.
