The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance – James Stewart Series

In our final episode in our James Stewart series, we are joined by Dave Holly of the Dave Holly Hour to discuss the Stewart lead film, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance! Silver screen icon Stewart is joined on screen by the legendary John Wayne, and director John Ford behind the camera. We discuss this week’s movie news and box office results, including recent casting news.

James Stewart stars as lawyer turned state senator Ransom Stoddard who returns to a small western town for the funeral of his friend, Tom Doniphon (John Wayne). Stoddard recounts when he first met Tom, and the legendary encounter that the two man had with famed gunslinger Liberty Valance. The film co-stars Vera Miles, Lee Marvin, and John Carradine.

The Box Office

Spiral comes in at number one once again this week with $4.55 million. Number two is the Wrath of Man with $2.93 million. Those Who Wish Me Dead remains at number three with $1.84 million. Raya and the Last Dragon moves up to number four with $1.66 million. Lastly, Godzilla vs Kong reemerges into the top five with a $1.44 million weekend.

The News

Casting for the upcoming Knives Out sequel continues as Leslie Odom Jr. and Kate Hudson have joined the star-studded cast. In other casting news, Timothee Chalamet is eyed to play Willy Wonka in a Warner Bros. produced prequel, while Henry Cavill is in talks for the lead in a Highlander remake. John Boyega is set to return in Attack the Block 2. Finally, Hulu has acquired the rights to the upcoming Hellraiser reboot from director David Bruckner.
