The Matrix – Pride Movie Series

Welcome to week number five of our 2021 Pride Movie Series! This week we are joined by Kimberly Marie, a longtime friend of co-host Brian Mensing. Kimberly comes to us with an unusual yet very relevant film based in the transgender community with “The Matrix.”

The Matrix stars Keanu Reeves as Neo, the chosen one. 1999 science fiction action film written and directed by the Wachowskis. Reeves starts out as Thomas Anderson, a man living two lives. One as the mundane employee working for the big corporation and the one that sees him using his skills to try to find out what “The Matrix” is. The film also stars a plethora of stars including Lawrence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, & Joe Pantoliano.

The Box Office

This weekend’s box office is F9: The Fast Saga, opening at $70.0 million. Staying at number two is A Quiet Place Part II with $6.20 million. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard comes in at number three with $4.88 million. At number four this weekend is Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway with $4.85 million. Rounding out the top five is Cruella with $3.73 million.

The News

Steven Caple Jr. & Lorenzo Di Bonaventura reveal this week that Paramount is giving us a new installment of the Transformers franchise. The seventh installment will be called Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Rachel Zegler of the new West Side Story remake to star in Disney’s Snow White live-action movie. Scarlett Johansson to produce and star in Disney’s Tower of Terror movie. Lastly, Lionsgate gives us a new trailer for the upcoming Halloween Kills.
