Welcome to week three of our October Clive Barker series in which we discuss the work of famed author and filmmaker. We are joined by artist Andy Grode to discuss the underappreciated film, The Midnight Meat Train.
Based on the short story of the same name by Clive Barker, The Midngiht Meat Train (2008). The film is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura and adapted to the screen by Jeff Buhler. The film follows Leon Kaufman, a New York Photographer trying to make a name for himself. When trying to get that perfect photograph that will propel him forward, he stumbles across a dark secret.

The Box Office
We have yet another new king of the box office! Liam Neeson comes in at number one with Honest Thief bringing in $3.7 Million. He beats out Robert DeNiro’s The War with Grandpa, coming in second with $2.5 million. Tenet drops to number three with $1.6 million. The re-release of The Nightmare Before Christmas joins the box office at number four bringing in $1.323 Million. The classic Hocus Pocus keeps strong at number five with $765 thousand.
The News
Warner Bros has officially greenlit the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road. George Miller will be back to direct and co-write. The new film will follow Fury Road’s Furiosa, the role made famous by Charlize Theron. The film will see Anya Taylor-Joy pick up the mantle as the lead character. Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be joining Taylor-Joy in currently unknown roles.
Eddie Murphy’s upcoming sequel to Coming to America finds a home. The sequel Coming 2 America, see what they did there, was originally set to release December 18, 2020, prior to Covid-19. Amazon has purchased the film at a staggering $125 Million. They will keep the release date the same and will be available via Amazon Prime.
