The Movies That Inspire Us

Welcome to Episode 67 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast hosted by Casey Kelderman and Brian Mensing! On this week’s show your resident Schmuck’s of Back Lot 605 discuss the movies that inspire us. They take a look back at some of the movies that inspire us the most, whether personally or professionally. What are some of the films that have inspired you in some way in your life? Let us know!

The Box Office

Sonic the Hedgehog speeds it’s way to the top of the box office with a $57 million opening. Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey (new title and all) takes the number two spot with $17 million. Fantasy Island opens at number three with $12.4 million. At number four is The Photograph with $12.2 million. Bad Boys for Life takes the number five spot with $11.3 million. Lastly, Best Picture winner Parasite jumps over 200% at the box office with a $5.5 million weekend.

The News

Blumhouse has announced that the previously “banned” film The Hunt will hit theaters March 13. The film was pulled from theaters before it’s previous release date of September 27, 2019. In casting news, Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty and the Beast) is rumored to be cast in the Loki Disney+ series.

Disney has announced two major casting decisions for Disney+ content. First, Rick Moranis (Ghostbusters, Spaceballs) will make his return from a longstanding retirement for the Honey I Shrunk the Kids reboot, alongside Josh Gad (Frozen). Futhermore, Emilio Estevez the might duck man will return at Coach Bombay in a Mighty Ducks Disney+ series.

Released was our first look at Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, starring Timothee Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, and Bill Murray.

Lastly, just a few weeks after being announced to be performing the title song for No Time to Die, Billie Eilish has dropped the single from the film. Give the song a listen below.
