The People vs Larry Flynt – Vs Movies Series

He’s the pervert of publication and fighting for your right to free speech. This week we will be discussing the critically acclaimed 1996 drama, The People vs Larry Flynt. We are joined by Local Lou from This Movie’s History and The Local Lou Podcast to discuss the film, this week’s box office results, and movie news from the last week.

The Box Office

Family movies continue their strong run at the box office with Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon taking in $8.6 million in it’s opening weekend. Tom and Jerry comes in 2nd with a strong $6.62 million. The young adult film Chaos Walking opens with $3.83 million. Opening at number four is Boogie with $1.2 million. Rounding out the top five is The Croods: A New Age with just under $800,000.

The News

After the announcement last week of a new Jeepers Creepers movie, another horror franchise will be expanding from the same studio. Black Hanger Studio will produce a reboot to the Silent Night, Deadly Night series. This is the second time in which the cult classic Christmas horror flick has been rebooted.

In casting news, Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) and Joseph Gordon Levitt (Trial of the Chicago 7) join Robert Zemeckis’s Pinocchio. They now join Tom Hanks (Sully) in this reimagining of the classic Disney animated movie.

Warner Bros. has released our first look at the long awaited sequel to Space Jam. Lebron James and Bugs Bunny unite forces in the upcoming Space Jam: A New Legacy, which hints at other Warner Bros. properties also featured in the film.
