The Princess Bride – 1980’s Fantasy Films Series

No it is not INCONCEIVABLE, we are discussing The Princess Bride on this week’s podcast! We are joined by Allison Weiland, the Executive Director of the Sioux Falls State Theatre to discuss this 80’s classic. We are wrapping up our 1980’s Fantasy series with one of the best of the decade. Drop a comment with your favorite line or moment from The Princess Bride!

The Princess Bride is directed by Rob Reiner, and is backed by an all-star cast including Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Andre the Giant, Chris Sarandon, and Billy Crystal. A grandfather reads a storybook to his ill grandson about a magical quest of love, revenge, and triumph. Lovers must be reunited before the princess is set to marry a man, whom plans to kill her after mawwiage.


The Box Office

Topping this weekend’s box office is the reigning Tenet with $3.4 million. Remaining at number two is The New Mutants with $1.1 million. Unhinged takes in $1 million at number three. The Empire Strikes Back finds it’s way into the top 5 of the box office for the second time this year with just under $1 million. Lastly, Infidel takes the number five spot with over $700,000.

The News

M. Night Shyamalan reveals the new title and a poster for his next film. Old will be M. Night’s next film, following the conclusion of his superhero trilogy with Glass. No word yet on the synopsis for this film.

Disney and Marvel Studios announces another delay to Black Widow. The film, originally set for release this past May. The multiple delays have been due to COVID. The film’s release is now back a full year from it’s original date to May of 2021.

In our last piece of news, Warner Bros announces that Aldis Hodge (The Invisible Man) will star as DC’s Hawkman in the upcoming film Black Adam
