Did you know we originally thought of calling this podcast The Back Lot 605 Podcast? We dropped the “The”, it sounds cleaner. Does that have to do with this week’s podcast? Why it sure does! This week we are continuing David Fincher month as we discuss The Social Network. (That line from earlier is a quote from the movie, I told you it wasn’t random). Joining us this week is fellow South Dakota movie pundit, Andy Heller of Fat Dude Digs Flicks! Andy played this film on our ‘Best of the Decade’ live show countdown, and we cannot think of anyone better to join us to discuss the “Facebook Movie”. What are your thoughts on the film? Is The Social Network a modern classic? Drop a comment let us know!
The Social Network is a 2010 biographical drama starring Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook co-found Mark Zuckerberg. The film follows the trials and success of the early days of the social networking site. Furthermore, the film explores how the world’s youngest billionaire ending up in two lawsuits at the same time. The Social Network co-stars Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, and Rooney Mara.
The Box Office
Topping this weekend’s box office results is Paul W.S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter, opening at $2.2 million. Trailing not too far behind is last week’s number one The Croods: A New Age with $2 million. At number three is the new release Fatale with $918,000. At number four is Half Brothers at $272,000. Lastly, The War With Grandpa stays in the top 5 for one more week with just under $200,000.
