Welcome to Episode 54 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast! In honor of this weekend’s release of A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, we take a look at our favorite Tom Hanks movies. With a career spanning nearly 40 years, Hanks has proven himself over and over to be one of the best to grace the silver screen. On this episode we discuss our top three favorite Tom Hanks lead films. What are some of your favorite Tom Hanks movies?

The Box Office

The Christian Bale and Matt Damon lead film Ford v Ferrari tops the box office with $31 million. Midway drops one spot to take the number 2 slot with $8.7 million. Charlie’s Angels opens with a disappointing $8.6 million weekend.

The News

Nicholas Cage will play a fictionalized version of himself in the upcoming film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The rights to Beverly Hills Cop 4 have been acquired by Netflix. The film will reunite Eddie Murphy with the streaming service after this year’s Dolemite is My Name. The Dwayne Johnson lead film Black Adam now has a set release date of December 22, 2021.

The first trailer for the upcoming Scooby-Doo animated film Scoob! has been released.

After a series of fan complaints, Sonic the Hedgehog has gotten a makeover. Our favorite ring capturing hedgehog has his look recreated to look more like his video game counterpart. The original Ghostbusters will appear in the upcoming Ghostbusters 2020. Blumhouse’s upcoming film Black Christmas has received a PG-13 rating. This comes after two R rated predecessors.

In other Blumhouse news, the first trailer for Fantasy Island has dropped. Based on the beloved television show, Fantasy Island takes the family friendly series in a much darker route.
