Welcome to Episode 82 of the Back Lot 605 Podcast! This is our final episode in our Summer Camp mini-series, and what a way to go out. This week’s film of discussion is the 2001 comedy Wet Hot American Summer. Hosts Casey Kelderman and Brian Mensing are joined by Back Lot 605 writer Derrick Veurink and professional wrestling commentator (and former camp counselor) Charlie Eccles. The News

Ryan Gosling will play the next Wolf Man for Universal, as the studio green lights an original idea from Gosling based on the classic monster. No word yet on a writer or director for the picture. The film is said to be very similar in style to the 2014 film Nightcrawler.

A sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog is in the works for Paramount. Original writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller are set to return for the sequel. In other video game movie news, Cate Blanchett has joined the cast of Eli Roth’s Borderlands film. No word as of yet on which character Blanchett will portray

Henry Cavill is in talks to return as the Man of Steel, Superman. This comes just a week after the announcement of an alternate Director’s Cut of Justice League. Apple will bankroll the massive $180-200 million budget for Martin Scorsese‚Äôs next movie, which will reunite Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Paramount will distribute the movie in theaters worldwide, and then the movie will go to Apple TV+.

Tom Cruise is going to space! The acclaimed actor will team with director Doug Liman and Elon Musk and NASA on the project. The film will shoot major scenes in space, with the notorious actor (presumably) performing his own stunts.

Dark Sky acquires South Dakota pandemic thriller Before the Fire for a summer release. At this time, there is no official announcement for the release date.

Lastly, director Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange) will helm a sequel to the fantasy, musical Labyrinth. The film has been in pre-production for many years, and now looks like the project will finally see the light of day.
