This 1988 film is directed by Ron Howard (Apollo 13), and stars Warwick Davis (Leprechaun) and Val Kilmer (Top Gun). We are joined by Back Lot 605’s own Blake Ginithan on this perilous journey of magic, romance, and an unlikely hero. This is our spotlight on Willow.

Willow (Davis) is a the laughing stock of his small village, and has always seen himself as outcast. When a mysterious baby appears in his village, young Willow must take on the task of returning the child to her people. The sorcerer in training soon finds that this baby holds the entire universe in it’s tiny hands. Willow reluctantly team up with a selfish warrior Madmartigan (Kilmer) and keep the child out of the hands of an evil queen.

The News

In a very slow news week, we have only one story of note to cover. Madonna will be stepping into the directing chair once again…to direct her own biopic. She will also pen the screenplay alongside Diablo Cody (Juno). No word as of yet on casting for the film, or if Madonna will pull triple duty and play herself.
